An agreement for establishment of Central Dry Port, a joint venture, in the Domodedovo Urban District of the Moscow Region was signed between COALCO Development and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy at the 13th Forum of Inter-Regional Cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan.
Presidents Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbaev discussed the development of the transportation logistical potential of the Eurasian Space at the Russian-Kazakh Forum. The transportation and logistical infrastructure issues were recognized to be the main topic of the business forum in which officials and business circles of both countries took part.
- Russia and Kazakhstan are at the crossroad of the main trading routes between Europe and Asia, we have a branched network of rail and motor roads and are able to ensure the high level of security of carries, Vladimir Putin said at the Forum.
The goal of the Central Dry Port Project is to increase the commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia, use the potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan in transit carriages of the New Silk Road transport corridor and improve the infrastructure capacities of Moscow and the Moscow Region.
Central Dry Port is a railroad container terminal with the capacity of 400,000 20-feet container units per year, allowing for completing the full container cargo handling cycle. The unique location of the dry port will reduce the load on the motor roads of Moscow and the Moscow Region.
Central Dry Port is an infrastructural project situated in the Domodedovo Urban District of the Moscow Region on the M4 Don Highway, on a 60 hectare land plot with the capability to accommodate businesses that need railroad terminal services and a connection with the railroad just-in-time.
